To develop a new model for training future leaders in healthcare, Dartmouth alumnus Eric Eichler ’57 partnered with The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice to create an interdisciplinary, liberal arts approach to pre-health and medical education. Through this work, we aim to support students as they pursue careers in clinical care, public health, advocacy, and scholarship.

Dartmouth Generations is a student-led organization for students who are interested in learning about dementia and other aging issues and getting to know older members of the Upper Valley Community.
Whether you are interested in working as a clinician, researcher, policy analyst, healthcare consultant, or advocate, Dartmouth Healthcare Foundations will provide you with a strong foundation to become a creative and compassionate leader in healthcare.
Healthcare is facing unprecedented challenges that require a different method of developing expertise. The current approach continues to promote a crisis of cynicism and demoralization that begins in the introductory stages of pre-health education. Through a new approach to pre-health education, we seek to disrupt this trajectory.
During the week-long summer intensive program on the campus of Dartmouth College, students will grapple with questions of advocacy, explore empathy and the culture of biomedicine, and reflect on how humanistic approaches provide an orientation toward compassionate engagement and serve as a guard against cynicism and fatigue in the complex work of health care. Sessions are led by top Dartmouth faculty, global health leaders, and clinicians to explore linkages between the humanities, social sciences, public health, and medicine. The program is open to all undergraduate students or recent graduates from any institution.
