Capstone summary
Students will apply their statistical, computational, and investigative skillsets while working on a real-world application of health data science through the capstone course. This 10-week experience culminates in a white paper and research presentation. Students will refine their professional skills including defining and executing a research project, scientific writing, and presenting project findings. Completion of the capstone positions graduates to become even more competitive in the job market by demonstrating competency not just in the application of health data science outside of the classroom setting but in high-value professional skills needed for success in the increasingly multidisciplinary field of health data science.
The capstone experience includes preparatory coursework and a capstone course.

- Winter Term: Capstone preparation course (0.5 Units)
- Summer Term: Capstone course (3.0 Units)

- Individual project with a Dartmouth researcher
- External internship experience
- Student-led group project using publicly available data
