Public Health in Practice: Dartmouth hosts Student ILE Presentations during March Intensive Learning Week
At the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, March Intensive Learning Week brings students in the Online Hybrid Master of Public Health program together for a period of in-person learning, collaboration, and celebration. A central component of the week is the Integrative Learning Experience practicum presentations, where students share the culmination of months of applied public health work with faculty, peers, and community partners. The presentations reflect the program’s emphasis on translating academic training into real-world impact, with projects spanning healthcare delivery, patient-centered care, and global health.
“Students ILE projects not only showcase their deep interest for a specific public health focus area, they also give students extensive, hands-on practice in project management, critical analysis, and persuasive communication - skills that translate broadly across public health careers.” – Meghan R. Longacre, MS, PhD, Practicum Director, Online/Hybrid MPH Program
Throughout the week, the energy in presentation rooms carried into conversations, as students, faculty, and partners connected over shared interests and exchanged ideas. The ILE presentations serve not only as a milestone for students but also as a space to reflect on the learning, mentorship, and collaboration that shape their experience in the program.
“Working on this project has shown me how much opportunity exists within healthcare systems to improve patient outcomes by examining and refining processes,” shared Sarah Auletta, MPH ’26.
“Not only have I learned so much through my coursework at Dartmouth, but the experiential learning opportunities through the ILE have allowed me to apply those lessons to patient-centered projects that are personally meaningful,” said Kerrie Verbeek, MPH ’26.
“This program has shown me just how expansive the field of public health is, and how important it is to take initiative in exploring it,” reflected MaryBeth Semosky, MPH ’26.
March Intensive Learning Week continues to serve as a powerful reminder of what is possible when students are supported in connecting knowledge with practice. Read more about recent student practicum work by clicking here!
