Scholarships & Financial Aid
Dartmouth is committed to assisting students with meeting the cost of their education. This year, 94% of students received a loan and/or scholarship from Dartmouth.
Dartmouth offers financial literacy resources and workshops to help students manage their finances effectively during their academic journey and beyond. These resources may cover topics such as budgeting, student loan repayment options, debt management, and financial planning for graduate school and career transitions.
Scholarships
Scholarship awards from Dartmouth are made possible through the generosity of alumni, corporations, and nonprofit foundations. However, the school has limited scholarship funds and may not be able to fully meet each student’s needs. Recipients are generally notified at the time of their offer of admission.
We offer scholarships to all applicants, regardless of citizenship status, based on merit. Scholarship funds are equally dispersed each term you are enrolled as a student.
Priority consideration is given to candidates who submit an application by the first round deadline on December 1. All candidates whose applications are submitted by February 1 will be reviewed for a scholarship. After February 1, all applicants will be reviewed for merit-based scholarships until the funding is fully depleted. There is no additional scholarship application required.
Our admissions and financial aid offices will review the application materials submitted by candidates for admission. In assessing merit, we consider a variety of factors, including exceptional academic performance, leadership, professional accomplishments, service, and the ability to contribute to the diversity of the Dartmouth community.
To search for outside scholarships, these resources are available: fastweb.com, collegeboard.org, and scholarships.com.
There is also a scholarship search engine through SOPHAS.
Federal Student Loans
To apply for federal student loan eligibility, all students need to complete the following two steps:
1) File the FAFSA. Dartmouth's school code is 002573
2) Submit the Dartmouth College Graduate Student Financial Aid Application
We need both forms to generate the official award package. The application process can be found on Dartmouth's Financial Aid website.
The Financial Aid Office helps graduate students with loan needs. Please contact your admissions officer with questions about scholarship funding.
Federal loans are available to U.S. citizens enrolled at least half-time and making satisfactory progress in a degree program. Federal financial aid to graduate students is available through the Federal Direct Loan program and the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan program. Graduate students who are citizens or permanent residents are eligible to borrow up to the full cost of attendance with federal student loans.
If you have questions about the loan application process after reviewing the information on the web page, contact Dartmouth's Financial Aid office at (603)646-2451 or email at financial.aid@dartmouth.edu.
