Become a trailblazer in healthcare through Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine
Dartmouth’s innovative Master of Science degree programs enable graduates to step confidently into leadership roles and immediately make an impact in health care, academia, biomedicine, population health, and big data. The programs are intended for full-time study with an average time to completion of 12-15 months. Students further specialize their degree in one of three leading areas in the field:
Our Ivy League program is unrivaled in its academic excellence, providing students with an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment that challenges them to innovate across disciplines for the most effective outcomes. MS in Epidemiology
Epidemiology examines the advanced, data-intensive study of the distribution and determinants of human disease. Our students focus on identifying prevention and treatment methods for conditions that affect communities and the more significant national population by collecting and analyzing biomedical data. The modern biomedical data scientist must be able to speak more than one language to collaborate successfully in a highly multidisciplinary environment. Dartmouth’s epidemiology students receive interdisciplinary training for careers in biomedical research, government agencies, private industries, and nonprofit health organizations.
MS in Health Data Science
Health Data Science is one of the most critical and fastest-growing fields in both the private sector and the academic world. Our distinctive program emphasizes rigorous training, aided by studying important problems in health and healthcare. By focusing on complex modeling to predict outcomes for disease and to evaluate the efficacy of patient treatment plans and other healthcare interventions, students are trained to improve organizational efficiency and quality of patient care. Dartmouth’s health data students are challenged to think critically across a wide range of courses, and graduates of the program step confidently into leadership roles where they can immediately make an impact.
MS in Healthcare ResearchHealthcare Research trains students to be leaders and researchers in health services delivery and quality improvement. Designed to set you on a pathway toward publishing research work or pursuing a Ph.D. program, the MS program will help you build your skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods, survey design, and research analysis. Dartmouth's Healthcare Research students develop expertise in quantitative techniques to assess the outcomes of medical care. The program is often sought out by experienced researchers, aspiring academics, and physicians looking to enhance their research skills as clinician investigators.
MS in Medical Informatics
Medical Informatics tackles data challenges and opportunities using a multi-pronged approach that reflects the location of the field at the intersection of information science, data science, biostatistics, and health care. Our Medical Informatics program emphasizes rigorous training in informatics applied to medicine by building off solid foundational training in data science, biostatistics, and epidemiology. It analyzes how to use medical treatments and technologies most efficiently for patient care in clinical and research settings. Dartmouth’s Medical Informatics students receive interdisciplinary training for careers in biomedical research, government agencies, private industries, and nonprofit health organizations.
