Student Spotlight: Sabin Hart, MS'25
From Dartmouth Undergrad to Grad: Sabin Hart’s Passion for Health Data Science
Sabin Hart is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Data Science at Dartmouth. He initially came to Dartmouth for his undergraduate education, where he developed an interest in statistics and data science, which eventually led him to pursue graduate studies. "I appreciate Dartmouth’s academic rigor, collaborative learning environment, and rich traditions," says Sabin, explaining his decision to continue his education here.
Upon discovering Dartmouth’s MS in Health Data Science program, Sabin was excited about the opportunity to deepen his knowledge in his chosen field. "During my undergraduate studies, I took many data science courses, but none with a health focus. As a graduate student, I now get to work with real healthcare data, network with professionals in the industry, and even publish work alongside Microsoft’s Director of AI for Health!"
Sabin was pleasantly surprised by how quickly he and his cohort were able to begin working in research labs, despite the accelerated nature of the program. "During our second term, most people in the program had connected with a lab that matched their research interests and career goals," he explains. "I started as a Biostatistics Consultant, applying my coursework to solve real-world problems in the fall." After graduation, Sabin plans to work as a biostatistician for a few years before eventually returning to academia to pursue a PhD.
"Traditions are everything at Dartmouth!" Sabin reminds incoming students. "Don’t hesitate to participate in events like Homecoming, Winter Carnival, Green Key, or any of the fun activities that pop up during the year." He also shares an insider tip: "My favorite activity come spring is stargazing on the golf course and joining the astronomy department’s public observation sessions on Fridays. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better view of the stars anywhere."
