ON-CAMPUS MPH PROGRAM
Tay, what about Dartmouth's MPH program made you feel like it would be the right fit, right now in the evolution of your career? As a clinician in the United Kingdom with a passion for studying healthcare policy, Dartmouth’s reputation as a research center and leader in advancing models for healthcare change drew my interest. I was struck by just how friendly everyone was from the moment I first reached out. To be in such a supportive and pioneering atmosphere surrounded by faculty leading in their respective fields was too good an opportunity to turn down and I’m certain that I’ll benefit from my time here.
What are some of the areas you’re most interested in learning more about/investigating at Dartmouth? My interest lies in studying the links between lifestyle choices and health. In particular, how various influences around us every day can result in poor choices to the detriment of our health and ability to be productive members of society.
Where do you want to influence change in public health and healthcare?
Globally, there is unfathomable disparity in healthcare. In particular, maternal and fetal health is still severely lacking in some places. Closer to home in the U.K., the rising prevalence of obesity has placed a huge strain on healthcare. I hope to combine my background in clinical medicine with my education at Dartmouth to work in a policy environment leading change to educate and empower communities to make positive choices about their own health. I would love to share these skills in under-resourced settings and address some of the greatest disparities in global health.
“I hope to leave the Dartmouth MPH program more energized than ever to think critically about our greatest healthcare and public health challenges.”
