ON-CAMPUS MPH PROGRAM
Qiyang, What about Dartmouth's MPH program made you feel like it would be the right fit, right now in the evolution of your career?
More than one third of U.S. adults are sleep-deprived. As a certified sleep technologist and sleep health educator, I want to help people get the sleep they need – it is crucial to their health and wellbeing. I currently serve as the program coordinator of the joint collaborative sleep medicine and technology teaching program between the VITUP International Hospital in China and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. At Dartmouth, the personalized experience that the MPH program provides will enable me to further my career in sleep healthcare, while also equipping me with a comprehensive learning structure and the necessary tools I need such as biostatistics, epidemiology, and regression and cost effectiveness analysis to address healthcare challenges.
What are some of the areas you’re most interested in learning more about/investigating at Dartmouth?
I want to gain proficiency in outcomes research through various implementations and undertake quality improvement measures to improve sleep-related healthcare needs.
Where do you want to influence change in public health and healthcare?Raising awareness of sleep health and establishing a comprehensive sleep-related healthcare delivery system to diagnose and treat sleep disorders is an urgent need in public health today. I feel that it is my duty to continue helping people get enough healthy sleep and help other healthcare providers stay up to date with the latest information available. I want to work on establishing sleep-related holistic care, by using sleep health as a gateway to help manage and optimize a population’s overall health.
“I hope when I leave the MPH program, I will be better equipped to integrate technological innovations and advanced analysis models to measure health outcomes and improve sleep-related healthcare quality.”
