Dartmouth MPH and MS Students Showcase Research Excellence at Spring Poster Session
The Rubin 4 Atrium at Dartmouth Health was alive with energy Wednesday evening as Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Science in Healthcare Research (MS) students presented during the Residential MPH and MS Independent Integrative Learning Experience (ILE) Student Poster Session, representing the culmination of their academic journeys.
Held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, the event celebrated the achievements of students completing PH 179—the final course in a rigorous three-term capstone elective sequence. Faculty, classmates, researchers, and staff gathered to engage with students as they presented original research proposals, manuscripts, and policy white papers developed through months of dedicated academic effort.
“This session is always a highlight of the academic year,” said Roland Lamb, MPH, program director. “It’s a celebration of all of the hard work of our students, their individual achievements, recognition of the real-world challenges, and opportunities to tackle these difficult topics together which defines our programs.”
The ILE Poster Session serves several purposes: to share student work with the broader Dartmouth community, to provide opportunities for professional engagement and feedback, and to showcase new ideas, as well as the depth and diversity of student projects across public health and health policy.
Posters lined the atrium walls, sparking one-on-one conversations between presenters and attendees. Topics reflected the interdisciplinary nature of the program, ranging from rural and urban environments and behavioral health interventions to policy analyses on improving oral health climate-related health threats, and pediatric health outcomes.
As guests mingled and discussed the students’ work over refreshments, a sense of shared pride and accomplishment filled the space, marking a major academic milestone and underscoring the Dartmouth commitment to integrative and applied learning.
The 2025 ILE Student Poster Session served not only as a celebration of hard work, but also as a launchpad for soon to be graduates, signaling a future where these emerging public health professionals are ready to lead with insight, evidence, and heart.
“I had never previously had the opportunity to tackle a research project that was completely my own; past experience in labs or groups were, of course, always aligned with the interests of the PI. The I-ILE gave me the chance to take on this long-term type of activity and really dive into my own interests in a very surgical manner.” – Aidan Ferrin, MPH student
