Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and the Geisel School of Medicine partner to offer several multidisciplinary programs in public health and health care.

Applicants seeking admission to Dartmouth’s dual degree programs must apply separately to each of the two collaborating schools and must meet the admissions requirements of both. Once both schools grant admission to the individual degree programs, the student may begin an integrated dual-degree program. 

Aspiring MD/MPH or DO/MPH candidates outside of Dartmouth can take a one-year leave of absence from their program and come to Dartmouth to earn their MPH (or MS) in one year, then return to earn both degrees in five years.

MBA/MPH

Dartmouth students can complete the dual MBA/MPH in just two years.  Dual degree students complete their first year at Tuck and then do an abbreviated MBA internship in the summer. They then enroll in Dartmouth’s MPH program in their second year and take electives at both schools before graduation.

Interested candidates have two options for admission:

• Apply to the MPH program during their first year at Tuck by December 1 *preferred 
• Apply to both MBA and the MPH together and enroll.  These candidates are automatically deferred admission to the MPH program for one year.

MD/MPH or MD/MS

MD students at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth have the opportunity to take the one-year MPH or MS degree, typically taking a leave-of-absense after the completion of their third year of medical school.

Each student develops competencies in six broad areas of medicine: medical knowledge, clinical skills, interpersonal and communications skills, professionalism, personal assessment and improvement in the practice environment, and managing patient care in a complex health care system. When combined with the MPH or the MS program, the MD becomes a richer experience where students engage in a thought process that will bring the health care system to the next level. Such students ask challenging questions, seek provocative answers, and develop enlightened solutions.

Master of Health Care Delivery Science (MHCDS)

The Master of Health Care Delivery Science (MHCDS) program is a joint effort by the Tuck School of Business and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice targeting experienced executives and emerging leaders.

The combination of The Dartmouth Institute's advanced research expertise in health care outcomes with the Tuck School's proven success in teaching leadership and teamwork, finance, and operations creates an educational opportunity unmatched by other programs. Medical students undertake the MPH or MS program while on leave of absence between the third and fourth year of medical school or after their 4th year of medical school and before a residency program. They receive their MPH or MS degree upon successful completion of the academic requirements for Dartmouth's program. 

DMD/DDS and MPH or MS

Students currently enrolled in accredited DMD or DDS programs who have a career interest in public health or healthcare research are eligible to apply for admission to Dartmouth’s MPH or MS programs. 

Dental students undertake the MPH or MS program while on leave of absence between the third and fourth year of medical school or after their 4th year of medical school and before a residency program. They receive their MPH or MS degree upon successful completion of the academic requirements for Dartmouth's program.
