Geisel Health Sciences Alumni Inspire Future Graduates at 2025 Panel
The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College hosted its Master’s in Health Sciences Alumni Panel on Friday, October 24, bringing together recent graduates to share their journeys from the classroom to professional success. The virtual event provided current students with valuable insights into navigating the transition from academic study to the workforce.
Moderated by faculty and attended by students from across the Health Sciences and Quantitative Biomedical Sciences programs, the panel featured five alumni:
- Joe Gyorda (QBS MS ’23), Data Analyst at the Chicago Cubs
- Sabin Hart (Dartmouth ’24, QBS MS ’25), Associate Data Scientist at Blue Health Intelligence
- Chioma Illoh (QBS MS ’24), Data Analyst at TruDataRx
- Megan McKenzie (QBS MS ’24), Associate Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services
- Jaini Shah (QBS MS ’25), Data Scientist at Vanguard.
Throughout the discussion, panelists reflected on their academic experiences at Geisel and how it prepared them for roles in data science and biomedical research. They shared candid advice about effective job search techniques, networking strategies, and overcoming the challenges of entering a competitive job market.
Each speaker emphasized the importance of persistence, curiosity, and leveraging the strong network within Dartmouth’s Health Sciences community. Students attending the session were encouraged to take steps in exploring career paths, honing technical skills including preparing for technical interviews, and building confidence through projects with Dartmouth faculty.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Jennifer Emond MS, PhD, associate professor of Biomedical Data Science and Assistant Dean of the Health Sciences Master’s of Science programs, expressed her pride in the panelists’ accomplishments:
“Seeing our alumni thrive in their careers speaks volumes about their dedication, hard work, and training. I am proud to see them apply and expand their skills within the health and data sciences and grow as professionals and emerging leaders.”
The panel concluded with a Q&A session, where students engaged directly with the alumni, seeking guidance on everything from tailoring resumes to balancing work-life demands.
With its focus on mentorship, real-world insights, and community connection, the 2025 Alumni Panel reaffirmed Geisel’s commitment to equipping its graduates with the skills, confidence, and inspiration to make a lasting impact in health sciences and beyond.
