Alumni Spotlight: Chioma Illoh, MS Health Data Science ’24
Chioma Illoh is bringing data to life as an analyst at TruDataRx, a healthcare data analytics company that supports employers and health plans in making decisions around pharmacy benefits. Her work focuses on client reporting and sales analytics, where she creates detailed reports showing how strategies are performing and identifies trends that help her team drive growth.
“My time at Dartmouth prepared me for this kind of work,” Chioma reflects. “The Health Data Science program taught me how to think critically about data and, more importantly, how to communicate insights clearly to people who don’t necessarily have a technical background.”
For Chioma, what stands out most about her time at Dartmouth was the hands-on, collaborative nature of the program. Working on real-world projects alongside her peers gave her a tangible sense of how data can directly improve patient outcomes and influence the way healthcare systems operate. “It wasn’t just about learning,” she says, “it was about seeing how this work can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Chioma’s advice to incoming students is to “look for projects that genuinely excite and challenge you.” That curiosity, she says, is what drives both learning and professional growth.
Beyond the classroom, Chioma embraced the beauty and community of the Upper Valley. She recommends exploring local hiking trails, kayaking, or visiting the Norwich farmers market, a perfect balance to the rigors of the program. “Getting outside and connecting with the community is a great way to recharge,” she notes.
Looking ahead, Chioma remains committed to leveraging health data to support better decision-making in healthcare. With the foundation she built at Dartmouth, she is equipped to tackle complex problems and translate insights into actionable strategies that improve outcomes for patients and healthcare organizations alike.
